- An Immigrant's Guide to Britain
Henning Wehn is a German stand-up comedian based in London.
He is known as the German Comedy Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Henning Wehn took office after watching an open mic night that left him convinced that he would do better, and has been performing as the self-styled German Comedy Ambassador ever since.
Initially intending to stay for just a year in Britain, Henning claims to have been seduced by the country’s weather, cuisine and hospitality. He’s now a regular on the club and comedy festival circuit, and has toured the UK with wry insights on the age-old rivalry between his new home and his native land. Whether it’s sport, economics, politics or war, Henning subtly mocks the stereotypes of both nations, brilliantly sending up Britain’s indifference and fondness for nostalgia and Germany’s efficiency and logic.
Wehn has appeared on the panel shows 8 Out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News For You, Room 101, Would I Lie To You?, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and QI. He also appeared on Channel 4’s political discussion/comedy show 10 O’Clock Live in May 2013. He is a recurring panellist on both the BBC Radio Five Live comedy sports show Fighting Talk and on the BBC Radio Four panel game The Unbelievable Truth. Wehn also appeared as a panellist on the 2015, 2016 and 2017 series of The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice for both the BBC and Channel 4.
Whilst touring on his own most of the time, he sometimes appears with his countryman Otto Kuhnle and their show 1000 Years of German Humour was nominated for the Barry Award at the 2009 Melbourne Comedy Festival. Henning Wehn also supported Stewart Lee on tour.
Henning is great for Awards Ceremonies; Cabaret; and After Dinner – book him for yours now.
