- BBC One's Not Going Out
- Guinness World Record for most jokes in an hour
Tim Vine is a stand-up comedian and actor.
He is known for his quick-fire puns and his role on the BBC series Not Going Out until his departure in 2012.
Tim Vine is a joke telling master, rattling out one joke after another in quick succession. Tim’s quick fire delivery can see him sharing up to 10 jokes a minute. The speed, precision and relentlessness of Tim’s gag-telling saw him break the world record for the most jokes told in an hour in 2004 with 499 (to count, each joke had to get a laugh from the audience too).
Tim Vine has won the Perrier Best Newcomer Award and been shortlisted for the main award and for Time Out’s New Act of The Year. In 2010 and 2014 Tim won the Dave Television award for ‘Best Joke at the Edinburgh Fringe’, the only person to have won it twice.
He appeared in 5 series of the award-winning sitcom ‘Not Going Out’ and he played Beach the Butler in series two of Blandings. Other TV shows include Live at the Apollo, Q.I, winning Celebrity Mastermind, hosting ITV game show ‘Don’t Blow The Inheritance, a regular on Celebrity Squares, a regular on Countdown’s Dictionary Corner. And for Comic Relief he appeared on ‘Fame Academy’, dancing on ‘Let’s Dance’ as Justin Timberlake and playing darts on ‘ Let’s Play Darts’ as well as popping up in a Downton Abbey spoof. And on Celebrity Total Wipeout he fell off everything!
Continuing with his live comedy ‘The Tim Vine Chat Show’ where Tim interviews members of the audience and interviews them was a sell-out in Edinburgh 2011, 2012 and 2013. Tim has also appeared in six pantomimes and his stand-up has been performed as far afield as The Melbourne Comedy Festival in Australia as well as Montreal, Ireland, Singapore, Hong Kong, USA and China among others.
